Bob Sabin College Scholarship

By Unknown on 6/7/2017

Each year, Girls on the Run of Union County awards two $1,000 college scholarships to GOTRUC alumna.

The scholarship was established and funded in 2012 for Union County high school seniors who previously participated in Girls on the Run. In 2015, the award was named after Bob Sabin, the late board chairman of Girls on the Run of Union County. Sabin was an active volunteer in Union County and the scholarship application was adjusted in his memory to include a community impact component.

This year’s Bob Sabin College Scholarship was awarded to Haley Manus and Claire Brown, both of whom participated in Girls on the Run of Union County and have made a meaningful contribution to the community.

Haley will be graduating from Piedmont High School and will attend Wingate University in the fall. This past spring season of Girls on the Run, Haley served as a junior coach for the GOTR program at Indian Trail Elementary. Claire will graduate from Cuthbertson High School and will be attending Appalachian State University in the fall. Claire is a dedicated volunteer and puppy mentor at Project2Heal in Waxhaw.
