Is It Time For a New Pair of Running Shoes?

At Girls on the Run Union County, we know that the right pair of running shoes can make all the difference in your training and race day experience. If you’re experiencing foot pain, sore knees, or worn-out treads, it may be time for a new pair!

Following the 300-mile rule, checking for signs of wear, and shopping at specialty running stores can help you find the best fit. Focus on function over brand, and remember that price doesn’t always equal quality. Just like car tires, shoes wear down over time, so replace them regularly to stay comfortable and injury-free. If pain persists, consider consulting a specialist like OrthoCarolina.

What is a 5K Buddy?

At Girls on the Run Union County, we celebrate the incredible journey our participants take each season, culminating in an inspiring 5K event. But they don’t complete this race alone—they have a special support system by their side: their 5K Buddy!

A 5K Buddy is a positive, encouraging role model who runs (or walks) alongside a Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole participant during the season-ending 5K. This person provides motivation, reassurance, and companionship, ensuring that each girl feels supported every step of the way.
